Matei Paun

Born in Bucharest, Romania, and raised in Park Ridge, Illinois, Coach Matei brings a unique international perspective to Lincolnwood Soccer Club. Having grown up in a culture where soccer is a way of life, he seamlessly combines European technical fundamentals with his extensive experience playing at the American high school and collegiate levels. Before joining our coaching staff, Matei spent years as a professional educator, teaching at the middle and high school levels. This background in Secondary English and Social Studies gives him a distinct advantage on the pitch: a masterly ability to communicate complex tactical concepts to young players in an engaging, age-appropriate way. Coach Matei is passionate about holistic development, dedicated to seeing his students evolve into both skilled athletes and disciplined, confident individuals.
